- OnePlus is reportedly planning to launch a phone called the OnePlus Nord CE.
- The device was previously tipped to be called the OnePlus Nord N1 5G.
- It’s expected to be the successor of the OnePlus Nord N10.
Last year, OnePlus launched the Nord N10 and Nord N100 as two affordable offerings in its fairly new Nord series. So naturally, the company is expected to launch follow-up phones this year. One of those devices, according to tipster Max Jambor, will be called the OnePlus Nord CE 5G.
The leaker previously reported that the phone would be christened the OnePlus Nord N1 5G. However, he now claims that the company has changed the name. He also says that OnePlus usually decides on a final name for a phone a month or so before launch. So the company may be getting ready to release the OnePlus Nord CE sometime soon.
The OnePlus Nord N10 was released in October last year, so if Jambor’s theory is accurate, the new budget Nord could launch months before its predecessor. However, we can’t really be sure about anything since this is still just a name leak that doesn’t give any other information about the device.
OnePlus Nord CE expected specs
The OnePlus Nord N10 landed with the Snapdragon 690 5G SoC, a 90Hz LCD display, a 4,300mAh battery, and a 64MP quad-camera setup. Since the upcoming Nord also apparently has 5G in its name, it could come with an upgraded chipset.
The Snapdragon 690 still doesn’t have a successor, so OnePlus could use one of Qualcomm’s mid-range 700-series 5G processors. It’s also entirely possible that OnePlus switches to a MediaTek chip as it’s rumored to do on the Nord 2. Alternatively, the company could decide to stick to the Snapdragon 690 and upgrade other specs.
A while back, tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka OnLeaks also leaked some renders of the Nord N10 successor. As per that leak, the phone’s height and weight have been slightly reduced, but its overall dimensions are roughly the same as the Nord N10. It’s also believed to come with a 6.49-inch display with a single punch-hole on the top left corner. A 3.5mm headphone jack was also seen in the renders.
Nevertheless, we’ll be on the lookout for more information about the so-called OnePlus Nord CE. The Nord N10 and N100 clocked impressive sales in the US and the new budget phone could further boost those numbers.
